We're Josh Zook, and we raise Chihuahuas and Miniature Dachshunds in our home in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania — in Chester County, about an hour west of Philadelphia. We keep the program small on purpose: one or two litters at a time, raised in our living room rather than a kennel, so every puppy gets daily handling from the day it is born.
Whatever is available right now is listed at the top of this page. If nothing is listed, that is normal — most of our puppies are reserved before they are born, and the waitlist is how families get first look at an upcoming litter.
Every puppy leaves here with the same package, whichever breed you choose:
A $600 deposit holds your place. It is fully refundable for 48 hours, and it comes off the price of your puppy — it is not an extra fee. Each puppy's price is listed on its own page, because it varies by breed and litter. There is also a free waitlist if you would rather just be told when something becomes available; it costs nothing and you can leave it at any time. Ask us anything before you place a deposit. We would much rather answer questions early than have a family find out later that the timing was wrong.
Puppies go home at 10 weeks, and the weeks before that are the whole point. Litters are whelped in our living room and monitored around the clock, and Early Neurological Stimulation begins in the first three weeks. From weeks three to seven they meet everyday life — different sounds, different surfaces, adults, children and other pets. From week seven, crate training, potty training and leash training all begin before a puppy ever leaves us. Both parents are health and DNA screened before they are ever bred.
Chihuahuas stay small — up to about six pounds — and live a long time, commonly 14 to 16 years. They are loyal, alert and far bolder than their size suggests, and they do best with older children who understand how to handle a small dog gently.
Miniature Dachshunds are cheerful, curious and deeply attached to their people. They are a good fit for a family that wants a small dog with more of a working streak — a nose that wants a job, and the loyalty that comes with it.
